Client Success Stories: What’s possible with Sustainable Design Studio?

So far we’ve helped over 250 clients with over 150 projects, across 55 countries (stats we’re incredibly proud of). However, figures only tell a small part of the story therefore, we wanted to share with you some of our individual client successes.

Here is a look at some of the people we’ve helped, how we have helped them and what impact they are making around the world…

Designing A Unique Tuna Tail Pendant Mould For Maritimo Recycling

Croatian non-profit organisation Maritimo Recycling use their Sustainable Design Studio Arbour Injection Machine and a Custom Mould that we designed for them to produce stunning Tuna Tail pendants.

During fishing trips, Maritimo's President Marjan Zitnik would always collect plastic waste from the Adriatic Sea. As a 3D printing enthusiast, he soon realised he could combine the two hobbies to make a significant contribution to the reduction of plastic waste in the sea and on the coast.

The beautiful Tuna Tail pendants that Maritimo have created are available in three different colour combinations: Sipa, inspired by the depths of the sea; Maritimo, which evokes all the shades of the Adriatic blue sea; and Terazzo, which suggests the freshness and elegance of the white coast.

Each pendant sold enables Maritimo to recycle 10 plastic bottles or 100 plastic bottle tops from the Adriatic Sea. The money raised means the association's volunteers can carry out further beach and sea clean up operations.

Creating Jewellery Beads From Ocean Plastics For Behaviour Change Cornwall

Behaviour Change Cornwall use their Sustainable Design Studio Arbor Injection Machine, Shredder Basic and Large Bead Mould to make a positive difference in creating clean and healthy seas.

Behaviour Change Cornwall’s Beaded Jewellery is transformed from the lost ghost fishing nets and ocean plastics they recover from the wild coasts of Cornwall into unique beads, that treasured as one-of-a-kind jewellery, will never re-enter the sea.

Each bead sold has helped drive forward their mission, funding more recovery and recycling ocean plastics from our beaches and seas - making the ocean healthier and wildlife safer.

Their recycled beads are made using our Large Bead Mould and are named after the Cornish beaches the plastic is removed from. Customers are able to choose their favourites by location, recycled material or colour!

We believe that Behaviour Change Cornwall really showcases the possibility to generate profit while helping the environment by using our off the shelf machines and product moulds.

Designing Railway Track Toys For Zero Plastic Australia

This recycled train track came as a brief from our friends at @zeroplasticsaustralia. Zero Plastics Australia are a family business who turn single use plastic waste into something unique and beautiful. We worked with them to create recycled plastic train tracks for children, which are made with single use milk lids.

The tracks are handmade using an injection machine and custom molds, with lids donated by Lids4Kids Australia. Each track uses 33 grams of plastic, with a complete circle using 500 grams (116 lids!)

These guys make recycling look easy! (That's because it is!) But their creativity always excites us and we look forward to seeing what they ask us to create next!

Creating Incense Holders From Plastic Milk Bottles With Fullfat Melt

As an answer to the problem of single use plastic in their local café, Fullfat Melt wanted to produce beautiful, functional products from recycled waste. Working with Patch, their local café, they process their used plastic milk bottles alongside household plastic to create the raw material for production.

We worked with Fullfat Melt to create their incense holders. Each incense holder is beautiful, functional and unique in its pattern and design, and each one helps to eliminate the single use waste from the café.

Eliminating Waste To Create Beautiful Turtle Keyrings With Doba Studio

DOBA Studio exists to reduce plastic waste by boosting recycling, promoting a zero waste lifestyle and organising educational workshops. They also produce products made from recycled waste.

In the past, we have worked with Doba Studio to aid their recycling project up in Edinburgh. Our recent work with them involved creating 1000 turtle keyrings from 1.8kg of recycled plastic waste. The process was simple, the client had a product idea, we designed and fabricated the mold, and Doba Studio produced the product from locally collected waste. The whole process only took 20 working days from start to finish.

Each of the turtles is made using our manual injection machine one by one with manually selected plastic waste. Every piece has a unique colour, although dominant colours of the products could be produced, according to your requirements.

Helping to create show-stopping fashion displays with SAMJI Atelier

SAMJI is a small outfit of four partners who use creativity to drive change. They work to raise awareness as well as creating sustainable and recyclable materials and objects for businesses. Most of their projects focus around recycled plastic.

Using our design for the recycled brick, SAMJI worked with Adidas on their End Of Plastic Waste campaign. Their team designed decorative panels of recycled plastic bricks for different points of sale displays, to present their latest collection of trainers, which are also made from recycled plastic.
