Every funded project comes with a set amount of free consultancy and training too.

Outline your impact

Tell us what you want to achieve: students educated, plastic recycled, products made. Highlight the unique impact you want to make. Specific numbers and a clear local story make applications stand out.

Apply on ChangeX

Before you click submit, we strongly encourage getting in touch so the Sustainable Design Studio team can review your scope, sanity-check your budget and suggest small wording tweaks. We have helped shape dozens of winning applications and the call is free.

Get confirmed and funded

Successful applicants are confirmed by late summer, with grants paid shortly after so you can place your order with us.

Build, recycle, report back

Set up your workspace and report progress to ChangeX within six months. The Sustainable Design Studio team supports you the whole way.

The grant is fixed and goes towards machines, moulds, tooling, training and consumables to set up your workspace. It does not fund staff salaries, rent, utility bills or general operating costs. With the right mix of equipment you can comfortably reach the grant value and build a proper recycling space.

Two deadlines apply, depending on the programme. The UK, Ireland, and Costa Rica country grants close on 19 June 2026. The regional setup grants (Wales, London, Austria, Sweden) close on 30 June 2026. We recommend submitting earlier, but please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions before you click Apply.
Applications are typically confirmed by the end of August, with grants paid out in September and October. Projects need to be set up and progress reported back to ChangeX within a six-month period of receiving funding.
No prior experience in recycling or manufacturing is required. The Sustainable Design Studio team supports you at every step, from your first application through to your first injection.
The grant funds the setup costs of your recycling workspace: machines, moulds, accessories, training and consumables. It does not cover staff salaries, rent, utility bills or general operating expenses. It is a setup grant, not an ongoing operational subsidy.
No, the grants are fixed amounts. However, when adding extra tools, moulds and equipment, you can easily reach the grant value and build a sustainable recycling space. See our Workspace Setups & Budgets resource for sample bundles already costed against each country's grant amount.
Schools, social enterprises, community groups, charities, makers and entrepreneurs based in the UK, Ireland or Costa Rica are eligible for the country grants. The UK regional grants are open to applicants based in Newport (Wales) or in Ealing, Brent, or Hammersmith & Fulham (West London). The Sweden grant (launching 31 May 2026) is open to non-profits and schools in Dalarna County, and the Austria grant (launching 9 June 2026) is open to non-profits and schools in the Linz-Land District. Multiple projects will be selected in each region.
