Refined and upgraded, V2 EMV2

Extruder
Mini V2

Hand-cranked desktop injection moulder.

The Extruder Mini V2 is a compact, hand-cranked desktop injection molder designed and built in the UK by Sustainable Design Studio, for workshops, schools, events, and small-scale production. Use the screw mechanism to force molten plastic directly into your mould of choice, producing finished products in minutes. At just 10 kg it is the lightest machine of its kind, and with drill compatibility built in you can scale up speed whenever you need it.

Hand-cranked

Crank by hand or drive with a drill

A hand crank turns the screw mechanism on demand, or fit a battery drill to the same shaft for faster runs. The 300W heating element brings the barrel to 300°C in around five minutes.

Compact

Bench-top, classroom-ready

At 10 kg and 15 × 50 × 24 cm (D × W × H), the EMV2 sits on any bench and moves between rooms or sites with ease. Ideal for shared workshops, schools, and pop-up recycling events.

Screw-on mould attachment

The output threads accept any SDS Premium Mould or your own custom screw-on attachment. Extrude continuous profiles, rods, or fill moulds directly with molten plastic.

Specifications

Technical specifications

Every figure below is published in the EMV2 digital product passport and verified against the build guide.

Specifications may vary slightly between Kit and Fully Built versions. Throughput depends on the plastic, particle size, and ambient temperature.

Certification UKCA and CE certified
V1 vs V2

Five refinements, one redesigned machine

+ pressure

More extrusion force

The V2 piston system pushes harder than the V1, giving you more reliable mold-filling on dense plastics like ABS and HDPE.

Stronger

Reinforced frame

Heavier-gauge steel and improved fastener routing make the V2 sturdier under continuous extrusion or drill-driven use. Less flex, fewer adjustments.

Faster

Easier to build

A simplified 38-step assembly with cleaner part labelling brings first-time build down to a few hours, even for newcomers to mechanical assembly.

Precision

Better temperature control

Upgraded digital PID controller holds the barrel within tighter tolerances at 300°C, producing more consistent extrusion across long sessions.

Same price

Better in every way

All four upgrades land at the same price as the V1, with the same 12 month worldwide warranty and the same carbon-neutral shipping.

Two ways to buy

Build it yourself, or unbox and start extruding.

Kit

The crank mechanism is manual, but the 300W heating element requires mains power to melt the plastic. The EMV2 ships in 110V (NA) or 220V (UK / EU / AU) configurations with the country-specific plug included.
Yes. The drive shaft is drill-compatible, so you can fit a battery drill or low-RPM motor for faster runs. Hand-cranking is fine for small batches and demonstrations.
PLA, PETG, HDPE, ABS, PS, PP, and LDPE, plus many more. See the full plastic material database for compatibility detail. The EMV2 takes shredded flake from the Shredder Mini V2 or any standard shredder, and extrudes continuous profiles, rods, or directly into screw-on molds.
Yes. We ship worldwide with carbon-neutral delivery as standard, and have shipped to 94 countries to date. Default invoicing is in GBP; we can also issue invoices in EUR, USD, or CAD on request.
The V2 has more extrusion pressure for tougher plastics, a stronger reinforced frame, a simplified build process, and an improved digital PID temperature controller for tighter tolerances at 300°C. Same price as the V1, same 12 month warranty.
The EMV2 can produce basic filament-like profiles, but for consistent-diameter 3D printer filament we recommend the Filament Maker, which is purpose-built for that. The EMV2's strength is small extrusion runs and direct-into-mould production.
