Refined and upgraded, V2 AIMV2

Arbour
Injection V2

Hand-powered injection moulding, no compressor required.

The Arbour Injection Machine V2 is a free-standing manual injection moulder designed and built in the UK by Sustainable Design Studio, for home workshops, makerspaces, schools, and small-batch production studios. With a 175cm³ shot, dual 300W heaters, and a hand-powered rack and pinion mechanism, it handles bigger products and higher volumes than the Injection Mini V2, with no compressor or air supply needed.

3D printing Injection moulding

81× faster than 3D printing. Bigger shot, solid through, recycled-ready.

81×

A desktop 3D printer builds one layer at a time. The Arbour Injection V2 fills a 175cm³ mould in a single cycle, then ejects parts that are solid through, free of layer lines, and made from your own recycled shred if you want them to be.

Hand-powered

Rack and pinion injection

Convert hand force into ~125bar at the nozzle through a precision rack and pinion mechanism. No compressor, no air supply, no infrastructure required.

Larger shot

175cm³ shot, dual heaters

175cm³ per shot fills bigger moulds in a single cycle, up from 110g on the V1. Two 300W heaters with independent PID controllers (600W total) hold the barrel at 300°C, with a rated output of 1.12kg/hr.

V1 vs V2

Five refinements, one redesigned machine

175cm³

Larger shot size

The V2 barrel takes 175cm³ (~155g PP) per shot, up from 110g on the V1. Bigger products in a single cycle, fewer mold changes for batch runs.

~125bar

Higher injection pressure

The V2 delivers ~125bar at the nozzle, up from the V1's lower pressure. Cleaner fills on detailed molds and tighter tolerance on every part.

Quick

Quick-release mould mechanism

Swap moulds in seconds rather than minutes. The V2 quick-change system replaces the V1's fixing method for production-pace changeovers.

26cm

Taller mould space

Mould space increased from 15cm on the V1 to 26cm on the V2, allowing significantly taller products in a single shot.

Dual PID

Dual heating zones

Independent top and bottom PID-controlled heaters (600W total) replace the V1's single heated zone for more even melt across the full barrel length.

No. Unlike the Injection Mini V2, the AIMV2 uses a manual rack and pinion injection system. No compressor or air supply is needed. The only mains requirement is a standard 13A socket for the dual heaters.
It means the electronics are pre-built and tested in the UK workshop: the PID controllers, dual heaters, and electrical loom. The mechanical side stays with you, the rack and pinion mechanism, the dual heater barrel, and bolting the machine to a concrete or wooden base. Plan for around three hours of bench work before your first shot. The AIMV2 is not offered fully built, partially assembled is the most pre-built version available.
Yes. The AIMV2 must be bolted to a concrete or wooden base using M8 bolts through the four mounting holes. It cannot be operated freestanding. This is a key difference from the Injection Mini V2, which sits on a bench under its own weight.
PLA, PETG, HDPE, ABS, PS, PP, TPU, and LDPE, plus many more. See the full plastic material database for compatibility detail. PVC and thermosets are not compatible. Standard PET is not compatible (use PETG instead). Compatible with both Custom tapered SDS molds and flat-ended molds via the ½ inch BSP Female nozzle thread.
Yes. We ship worldwide with carbon-neutral delivery as standard, and have shipped to 94 countries to date. Default invoicing is in GBP; we can also issue invoices in EUR, USD, or CAD on request. The AIMV2 is heavy (38.5kg) and ships in two boxes, freight is quoted per destination at checkout.
The V2 has a larger 175cm³ shot, up from 110g on the V1, higher injection pressure of ~125bar at the nozzle, a quick-release mould mechanism for faster changeovers, a taller 26cm mould space (up from 15cm), dual heating zones with independent PIDs (600W total) replacing the V1 single heated zone, and a fully enclosed drive mechanism. Same hand-powered injection method.
The AIMV2 has more than double the shot capacity (175cm³ vs 80cm³), uses manual rack and pinion injection (no compressor needed), has dual heaters (600W vs 300W), higher injection pressure (~125bar vs ~89bar), and a larger mould space. The AIMV2 is a free-standing 160cm machine that must be bolted down. The Injection Mini V2 is a benchtop machine.
